Forever Home

Where is our forever home?

The events that occurred a couple of weeks ago found me pondering this question even more than usual.
It all started Friday mid morning when I was phoned by my neighbor explaining to me that one of our neighbor’s house was on fire. It wasn’t just a small kitchen fire but a blazing fury. It spread rapidly and affected the 2 houses one on either side. The home was a total loss. We were completely disheartened for this family and very grateful that all were alive and well. It has moved us to see neighbors  blessing neighbors and gathering together to donate and dispense cash to these sweet people that few knew before now. This was yet another reminder that everything on this earth is temporary and that material things may be lost in a blink of an eye.

This is not our home. How do I live with this in mind ?

Here are a few questions that I’ve asked myself recently:

What is my purpose? To point others to Him?

Why am I on this earth? Love the Lord, my husband, my girls and to point others to Him

What are my goals? To be who he has called me to be and no one else.

What is my motivation?  Is my motivation for my personal ambition or to make much of Him?

As I ponder these questions I am reminded of our home being our eternal home in heaven. This is a place where moths and rust do not destroy and fires are no longer allowed to burn.

Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

Matthew 6:19-21
