Are You Eating Right For Your Blood Type?

Lately I have been reviewing information about blood types and how we should modify our diets to best suit our body’s individual needs. After doing an at-home lab blood type test I found on Amazon (see the first kit here) and (see the second kit I purchased here), I began to modify our family dinners to best suit each of my family member’s blood type. Luckily, my family members all are either A, B, or O, so, for example, some meals I will cook a beef recipe for my O types, but then create the same dish but substitute the meat with tofu for my A and B types.

Which blood type are you and are you feeding your body what it needs?

A.

  • Very effective metabolism, smooth adaptation to variety of food and environment, weak immune system.
  • Primarily vegetarian, limited seafood, tofu, some grains. Stay away from meat and dairy products.
  • Soft exercise, like yoga or tai chi.
  • Greens for extra support, Vitamin B-12, Vitamin C, Folic Acid, Vitamin E

AB.

  • Great overall system for the modern world, strong immune system, sensitive digestive tract.
  • Mixed diet of animal products (limited meat), vegetables, fruits, limited beans.
  • Not-too-extreme and centering exercises like yoga and tennis.
  • Vitamin C, Hawthorn, Milk Thistle

B.

  • Hearty immune system, adaptable to dietary and environmental changes, well-balanced. Possible autoimmune disease.
  • Balanced omnivore with animal products, fruits and vegetables, seafood, and limited beans.
  • Moderate physical exercise with some mental exercise mixed in, like hiking, swimming, tennis, etc.
  • Magnesium, Lecithin, and Gingko Biloba supplements.

O.

  • Strong immune system and effective metabolism, overactive immune system, needs a steady diet (not quick to change environment)
  • Meats, chicken, vegetables, limited grains, protein rich diet.
  • Cardio, cross fit, aerobics, martial arts
