We can use essential oils to lower our stress anytime. When we use essential oils for stress, various parts of our limbic system will leap into action. This triggers the release of neurochemicals and hormones that will slow heart rate, stimulate immune system and regulate blood pressure. A fantastic time to diffuse essential oils is the beginning of a week. As we head back to school and work we can feel that overwhelming feeling of anxiety start to return.

Most of us live in the “flight or fight” mode due to stress. This is because stress causes adrenalin and cortisol to be produced which is essential for survival. Over time this damages our immune defense causing us to be more inclined to disease and illness. Stress has the affect to make us more acidic, therefore inviting disease to take residence.
Stress wreaks havoc on our immune system and is a HUGE reason why we are plagued with disease.

Science is studying the affects that odors have on the human limbic system. Scientists are finding the relationship between  when odors are introduced into the aromatic passageway that leads to the limbic area of the brain. Studies have shown that aromatherapy or diffusing essential oils in the workplace can have a positive affect on the stress level in individuals due to the unique constituents inside of the essential oils. The outcome is explained by the autonomic balance that the constituents concur over parasympathetic and sympathetic systems of the body when mixed with the components of the essential oil related to linalyl acetate, linalool, and limonene. The oils that possess these qualities are lavender, lemon, wild orange, bergamot and lime essential oils. Science is starting to catch on to natural methods to help heal the body and acknowledging the usefulness of natural means. This is absolutely exciting!
