Rest & Sleep

Rest & Sleep

How do you rest?

My idea of relaxation and rest is to take a warm bath with Epsom Salt and essential oils, read a book, go for a walk. What relaxes you?

We all need to rejuvenate ourselves. If you are a mom like me, we need to take time to recharge our batteries. This is KEY to our emotional health.

1/3 of our life is spent sleeping. How much sleep are you getting? We typically need 8 hours of sleep a night. Sleep is our natural state of rest.

Also, if we sleep too much or too little we tend to be irritable. Getting the right amount of sleep is another KEY to good health.

When we are sick our body is telling us that we need time to rest so that it can  repair itself.

Our bodies were meant to heal themselves! Are we giving our bodies what we need to do this with, nutrients, physical exercise, proper rest?

Listed below are some benefits of sleep:

  • regulates body growth
  • stimulates tissue growth
  • speeds healing
  • lowers cholesterol
  • body restores itself
  • Infants and small children need more sleep because they are growing rapidly
  • Too much sleep can make one irritable as too little sleep can do the same thing.

How much do YOU need?

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come unto me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
